SAVE THE CHILDREN

Many of my friends are having babies, and with so many babies around, I think about the world they will live in and what kind of options they will have.
I am optimistic and hopeful because of all the wonderful choices there are available today in environmentally friendly and healthy, non-toxic purchases. I'm thinking it can only get better. Conscious consumerism is becoming more and more popular, and sustainable is the buzzword.
We can start wherever we are, with protecting ourselves and the planet, to giving infants the cleanest, purest household possible, to teaching the teenagers to walk the talk and take care of the earth and our bodies.
When babies are coming, the conventional thing to do is to paint the walls of the baby's room and buy new furniture.
What unsuspecting parents aren't aware of is the unhealthy fumes coming from the paint and furniture. This is called offgassing, and can be very harmful to babies' undeveloped little organs. Protect your little one and help your wallet by buying used furniture. After a couple years the furniture offgasses majority of it's toxins. If you feel the need to paint, use no-VOC or low-VOC paint. Most states have these options at comparable prices to conventional paints. If it is a little more expensive, think of it as a small investment in your babies health.
