Where do I plug in my Car?

At the Detroit Auto Show, Katsuaki Watanabe, CEO of Toyota has confirmed plans to launch a plug-in hybrid by 2010.
Now that we have a date this is great for people who have environmental concerns as this could make more people move to hybrid. It also puts Toyota in direct competition with General Motors, which has announced plans to sell its own plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt, sometime around 2010.
Plug-in hybrids differ from the current hybrid vehicles in that they can be recharged externally, from an ordinary power outlet. In a conventional hybrid the battery is recharged from power generated by its wheels. The new Lithium batteries that will be used are more expensive but could potentially power the vehicles for longer periods of time.
So finally large corporations are competing over green alternatives which is sure to mean lower prices for the consumer in the long term. Soon when you crass at a friends house you will no longer be asking to borrow their phone charger, but rather their car charger.
